HUNGRY KYAA ?

It’s 2 PM and children are rushing back home from a tedious and hard day. Some tired and dull half asleep and others hungry and excited to eat something good at home. Now, what I wanted to discuss is what do you serve to these kids as mothers as caretakers and as parents. It’s your liability to nourishyour children with good and balanced food. Today mothers are not so worried about the nutritional point of view of their children’s diet.

I can give thousands of examples of mother’s serving cookies or Maggie as lunch to their children after they return from school. Let me ask you one thing, is this what you were served by your parents when you were a child. I remember my school days, when my mother and grandmother used to cookfresh food for us when we returned from school and we ate hot complete food with vegetables rice and pulses.

This was not the only case of lunch, but even in breakfast while going to school, the children of that era were forced to eat parathas, hot milk and almonds as daily diet. This gave them strength for the whole day. This breakfast gave nourishment and energy for the whole day and the children were very energetic and sporty at that time.

Children had only one personal conveyance at that time and it was “A Cycle”. Going to school by cycle was highly trending those days and thus the children were very fit and energetic due to these regular exercises twice a day.

But, where are those mothers gone?  Is a big question in the society of dull and obese children? Parents blame children for this and forget that somewhere they only are responsible for all this. Their lack of interest in cooking balanced and nourished food is the major reason behind these under-nourished and sick children. By ‘sick’ it doesn’t mean that the child is medically unfit, but it means that the child is deficient of several necessary nutrients due to increased intake of junk foods and aerated drinks.

So, when your child comes from school today, cook the world’s best home-made food full of nutrients love and mothers touch for him/her. This will be the best gift you could ever give to your children.

Summer Vacations: Where Are You?

31st April, the most awaited day of the year. I still remember those beautiful childhood days when we use to wait for this ‘last day of the batch’. I as a child, youngest among the four, always used to plan in advance.  No restrictions of early wake-ups, no homework, no school bags, no uniforms and above all NO DISCIPLINE.

As a 90’s kid, I have came a long way and cannot forget those beautiful ”Carefree” days of childhood, when we were really children, children with no stress of future, just living and enjoying the present childhood. No other later generations can understand the happiness and contentment of ‘life during summervacations’ of 90’s kids.

I still cherish remembering how I used to set alarms to wake up early to go to Khajrana Mandir with friends on cycle, joining library for reading Amar Chitra Katha, Archies, Twinkle and what not. The most treasured games were Gulli-Danda, Express, Sitoliya, slow-cycling, eating mangoes, sleeping on terrace and counting stars all night. These today’s kids do not know what they have missed. I used to sleep with my Grand-mother, and I would never let her sleep without listening a ’New Story’. Where are those Grand-mothers gone? I can’t find them anywhere.

Out of those two months, one month trip to ‘Nana-Nani’ and “dada-Dadi’ was fixed as a rule. Playing Carrom-Board, Cards, Ludo etc in afternoon in front of coolers was a compulsory condition by mothers, which if not maintained would result in several restrictions like handwriting classes, drawing classes and dance classes. So, I personally would always prefer to accept all her rules to enjoy summers without any pain.

The best part of these summer vacations was that, the end was also as exciting as the beginning of holidays. We all were very excited to meet friends, buy new books, new school dresses and shoes. These summer vacations used to rejuvenate children to work again and study hard for the new term.

Unlike today, the schools are never closed, the children are 24/7 shifting from one school to another. This results in boredom and frustration. Parents are treating children like horses; this is the basic reason in increase in crime and depression in children. Our government should reestablish the old education system again to save our youth from these mental disorders.

Salts To Cure Blood Pressure

Surprised! Right….I am sure you are surprised to read that even salts can cure Blood Pressure. But, seriously “YES”, as per Ayurveda science, the natural and raw salts are harmless and are rather good for our body, they not only regulate the water retention in our body but are the rich sources of several necessary and rare minerals. These salts are very necessary to control our blood pressure.

The Processed Salts

Today, as soon as someone is detected of high blood pressure, our Doctor’s immediately reduce the salts and start medicines to control the salt-level in our body to control the blood pressure. But, this is not the correct method because as soon as you stop the salt intake, your body gets deprived of several minerals which are required in very small quantities and are supplied through these salts. Finally, you may control your blood pressure but you start facing other problems like lack of potassium or sodium.

So, in this way you develop several other diseases in the process of curing one disease. So, now I suggest you a better way, in this you will not only control your blood pressure but will also maintain the levels of other necessary minerals.

These natural salts are rich sources of several minerals and nutrients which are very helpful in building immunity and enhancing the general health. They are, Sea-Salt, Rock Salt, Black Salt, Crystalline Salt, Pink Salt and several others as every sea-water is producing a different color salt with a different variety and composition of nutrients. So, this way every salt is different from others.

As Ayurveda Says

In olden days, the Ayurveda doctors used to use salts of different rovers and seas to cure different kinds of diseases. These salts are so strong that they can regulate your mood and temperament in a very less time. So, we should prefer using these natural rock salts in the place of bleached and processed white salts.

Happiness: An Extinct Emotion

Today, when the whole world is active on social media and uploading their smiling photos with friends and families I feel that the real happiness is fading away in these fake expressions of happiness. Today’s youth is more targeted to upload photos and videos rather than actually enjoying the moment. They post stories and live videos on Instagram and several other Social Media Channels. While doing all this they forget to actually experience the occasion and they miss the real fun of life.

The Fake Happiness

They are living life for others to see their photos and videos instead of living for their own self to learn and experience life the way it comes. They don’t remember what they actually felt while on a holiday or a trip; because they were busy uploading photos and videos at that time. Their friends are impressed by their “status and likes” records. And then they too start planning for a more adventurous trip to post updates of Social Media. They are doing all this not to gain experience but to gain “likes’ and “Views”

The Magnetic Aura of Fake Happiness

Today, all old and young get attracted towards the face book followers and likes records. They have started using “metrics” to measure “happiness”, instead of “smiles”.
I still remember those beautiful childhood summer holidays when we all used to spray water on our terrace and spread beds with mosquito nets to sleep on roof-top. i still remember watching those beautiful stars till late night. We don’t have any photos or videos of that time but still I remember each and every moment and incidence of those days as the most beautiful part of my memory-lane.

Our mothers and grandmothers never clicked our photos to make us feel how important we were for them? But, on the contrary they never forgot to make our favorite pickle, jam and foods for us to ensure our good health and happiness in that small steel Tiffin-box. How genuine our smiles were those days? How real their love was without any “likes” or views” or “comments” of anyone who was not involved. That love and happiness was as pure and sacred as my grandmother’s love for us. She taught us to be “happy” even when we don’t have a single penny in our pockets. That was the real “happiness” which is “endangered” now.

My Grandmother My Partner In Crime

Since last three decades, Maggi had captured the whole Indian population. Maggi is everybody’s favorite from small children to adults and from adults to senior citizens. I still remember that Maggi of Rs.5/- per cake, it was easy on pocket that I never struggled to purchase Maggi. It was like whenever and wherever. Today, when my kids are Maggi crazy, I feel like a family tradition in progress and continuation.

Those Secret Maggi Stories

I remember when I used to cook Maggi at night when my parents were sleeping. One fine day, in was following the same routine of cooking Maggi at midnight. I and my younger sister were cooking Maggi and then were dividing it into two bowls. We took our bowls and turned back towards the kitchen door and all of sudden something shady appeared on the door….. You can understand what would have happened? Yes! We screamed and dropped our bowls on floor and continued screaming till everybody appeared in the kitchen.

My parents, my elder sister, everyone came and asked us what happened? What were you doing in the kitchen so late? We were still in trauma. Finally, after few minutes I regained some strength and told my mother that I saw a ghost in the kitchen near the door. She said that’s not possible. She was arguing with both of us to convince us that there is nothing like ghosts.

Then, all of a sudden my grandmother started laughing. I didn’t like that at all. She was laughing at us. But, when she was not stopping I just asked her,”What’s there to laugh at”? She said, dear, it was me! I watch you both avoiding dinner at night and then cooking Maggi in midnight. I thought that today I will also skip the dinner and will eat Maggi with you. But, you spoiled everything. You dropped the bowl.

We all laughed loudly and continuously. My grandmother also party with us at night. My mother still thinks that we saw a ghost in the kitchen. Though my grandmother is no more today, but whenever I cook Maggi for my children I always remember her. She was very crazy for Maggi but was frightened of my parents, so I always gave her Maggi and Thumps up at night. I always share these stories with my children, to teach them that age is just a number. Anyone can eat Maggi at any age.
