Konark Dance Festival

Konarkdance festival is organized to enhance our cultural heritage. This is 33^rd Konark dance and music festival. Every year a five day program is organized to bring together all artists and dance-music lovers under one roof. This is one of the biggest dance festivals of India. People come from all over the world to attend the classical music and dance performances by the world-famous artists.

The Musical Instruments

Famous specialist’s musicians play their special fusions here. The old and new music instruments are used to create the beautiful fusion. Our traditional instruments like –Tabla, Mridang, Flute, Mouthorgan, Tanpura, Veena and harmonium etc are used along with new music instruments.

The Salamander

The dancing hall also known as “Salamander”, is a wonderful place in itself. The walls of the auditorium are covered with artistic paintings and designs of ancient times. During this festival live music and dance performances are organized. Orissa becomes the most visited tourist destinations during The Konark Dance & Music Festival.

The Government Promotional Activities

Since 1986, this festival is being organized to promote Orissa tourism. During this festival, the Orissa government takes special measures for the promotion of tourism and different help centers are opened for the convenience of the tourist from all over the world. Government is running several “Natya Academy” to promote these “Kalaas” at the national level.

The Bottom Line

We should encourage our children to adapt our cultural heritage. These dance forms are going extinct slowly. Our media is working hard to promote our cultural heritage by organizing several music shows and competitions on television. Young children get attracted and adapt this talent as a career. This is the best way to uplift our cultural heritage. Several famous TV shows are running successfully to promote these young talented children.
