Toys: Creative or Destructive?

A toy is basically a colorful piece of art which is given to a child to entertain as well as teach him. This is done because teaching a child is very difficult and it becomes easier with the help of a toy. Toys are made up of non-toxic plastic or polished wood. Toys are designed as per the age of the child and his mental development.

Small infants have a habit if taking everything they hold in their mouth, due to the irritation in their gums. So, toys are designed of non-toxic soft to chew materials to help them and distract them from the irritation.

Toddlers are entertained with the different category of toys. They get attracted with stuff toys and moving toys. This is because they are themselves learning to crawl and hence get attracted by such toys.

As the child grows, their choice of toys changes drastically a child of two years will not play with the toys for an infant. And similarly, a child of ten years will not play with toys of a toddler.

Basically, toys were designed to educate children at all the ages and to enhance their mental development. Different puzzles are included in the elementary schools for the child to use his brain and keep the right pieces at the right places. But, today the toys are not restricted to their basic concept of educating positive, but, they are more trending towards ‘negativity’ and ‘destruction’. There are several games which are taking children towards negativity, like video games with a demon as hero or a terrorist as hero. Our children copy the lead role and accept it as the ‘hero’. Such games are taking them towards the wrong path and they are more interested in killing, shooting and destroying games rather than creative games in which the villain dies in the end. The concept of ‘The victory of right above wrong’ is losing its grace nowadays as more and more video games are gaining popularity where the villain kills the hero and the game ends on this note.
In the end, I would suggest, that the parents should take personal interest while selecting toys and games for their children.
