Hair styling is in fashion since ancient times. People n
ancient times pleaded their hair and rolled them to look beautiful and
fascinating. Even in the Stone Age, the paintings and carvings in the cages
show several proofs of hair styling. The kings and queens invested long hours
on hair styling, rolling and braiding their hair. The women in primitive ages
also loved to do hair-do and make-over’s, though they used primitive tools for
the same.
The Ancient Hair-Styles
The oldest ‘Hair Braiding” dates back 30000 years
approximately. It was the time when the women with longest hair was considered as
the most attractive and fascinating women as compared to the women with
not-so-long or dull hair. It continued till the start of the middle age, but
during this era, the great revolution took place. The masses started dressing
their hair in variant complicated styles like, Rolling, Buns and other. They started
decorating their hair with ornaments and natural items like flowers and leaves.
The Changes in 15th
and 16th Century
During the 15th and 16th century, these trends changed and the
European men started maintaining their hair up to shoulders, and then later on
the trend of rolled and curled hair came into existence.
The invention of Wigs
The King Louis XIIII
of France, started the trend of male-wigs. These wigs were very expensive and
were used by the upper class as a symbol of their status. Later on the length
and styles were changed in these wigs till the middle 19th century. It
was the time when wigs were totally out-of-fashion and men loved to get their
hair-cut short. It was the time when the hair styling clips were not used and
people started leaving their hair open or styled the in huge buns.
In the middle of 19th
century, the women also started using wigs for styling complicated hair-styles.
It continued till the end of 19th century.
By the start of 20th
century, the trends were totally changed as the internet was invented and
everyday people searched new designs on net to get their hair styled in the latest
trends.
Even after these
changing trends, there are a few hair-styles which are still in trend since
ancient ages. These are Buns and Braids. People in primitive ages rolled their
hair to look attractive. Often women rolled their hair in buns to look acceptable.
The ‘Braids’ are one of the oldest hair style , the women in ancient paintings
are braiding each other hair or even queens are seen in braids.
In the end, I would say that the hair-styles are just rotating
over and over again after years and ages. The women and men love to change
their hair-do’s but still the styles are same as they used to be long back in
ancient times.
