Saint Valentine’s Day is celebrated throughout the world. All over the world, people exchange cards, chocolates and gifts to shower love on their valentines. Several messages are drafted on online stores with memes and captions for valentine day quotes. All social media channels are over flooded with love quotes, photos and videos on valentine day proposals and celebrations.  The whole country is involved in the celebrations and the markets and malls are decorated with red color ribbons and balloons.

Valentine’s Day Is Banned Here!

You must be surprised to know that there are a few countries where Valentine’s Day celebrations are not allowed by law.

·       Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has banned men and women showing love and affection in public places. As per their Muslim laws, they have banned such celebrations in their country. If anyone is found guilty they will be sentenced. In 2012, five men were sentenced 39 years of imprisonment with 4500 lashes during this time, when they were found guilty of drinking and dancing with girls.
·       Pakistan

Similarly, Pakistan had banned valentine celebrations in their country. As per Muslim laws, such celebrations are not allowed. So, these Muslim countries don’t entertain such celebrations.

·       Some Schools at Florida and Minnesota

Few schools at Florida and Minnesota have banned children to bring cards and chocolates on the Valentine’s Day. They have taken this step to maintain the discipline in the school campus.

The Bottom Line

There are several such organizations and religions, which oppose the Valentine’s Day celebrations. But, we Indians are matured and open-minded, we accept all cultures. But, in this quest to accept all we should not forget what is our own culture. We should also take efforts to preserve our own cultural heritage. As, this culture had already spider-webbed our youth, we should teach them the real stories of saint valentine in schools. This will educate then with the basic purpose of celebrating Valentine’s Day.
