Will You Be My Valentine?

Will you be my Valentine? These dialogues are very common during Valentine week. Several boys and girls encounter new Romeo’s during these days. I just remember few decades back, there were no valentine celebrations. It all started with the introduction of internet to common man. People saw these valentine day celebrations in Rome and other countries by the Catholics. Then these unemployed and free people around the country planned to start the same game here in India.

The History

I still remember, when I was in school, Valentine Day was celebrated in church with prayers and chorus singing for Saint Valentine. But, today the scene is very different; today’s youth is crazy celebrating love towards their “Special Friend”. They are buying expensive gifts for them, posting photos online and what not.

The Fashion Trending Behind Valentine’s Day

These couples want the whole world to know that they are in love and someone is crazy after them. They want to spend full live with each other. But, is life a “Bed Of Roses”, with great freedom of expression comes a great responsibility also.  A responsibility to accept each other the way you are, to love and respect each other and of course to give space to each other. These young children from business class families are so desperate to show off themselves to others that they forget this second side of the coin. There no coin with a single face, with freedom comes the bondage, with rights comes the duties.

Moral Science

Sometimes, I feel like adding a new subject in all school syllabuses. Though, it’s not a new subject. I still remember that “Moral Science” was one of the main stream subjects in convent schools; children need to study hard these books with stories on The Bible with moral values and pass the subject to enter the new class. Today, it should be mandatory in all government, public and private schools to educate moral values in the children.

The Bottom Line

I would be very thankful to the reader, if they start educating their children these moral values from today. This will not only bring a better tomorrow but also reduce these vulgar valentine proposals and cheap commenting, eve teasing type of behaviors in the youth.

“A Letter To Valentine Couples”

Dear Valentine couples,

I am so happy to see you all so deeply in love with each other and spending time on this relationship. I am very touched top see your gestures on Facebook, Tweeter and Instagram. Sometimes, I feel that I should have born in this era of westernization, freedom of expression and liberal mindsets. Today, the whole generation is very liberal and open-minded. Boys and girls are enjoyed freedom to the extent of line-in relationships. They don’t want any commitment of marriage and family.

The Irony

But the irony is that you don’t want any commitment of marriage, family and children and believe in live-in relationships and encourage this kind of lifestyles. But, you want a genuine PROMISE on Promise Day and a true commitment on Valentine’s Day.

Why this Dilemma? Why can’t you stick to one choice? Why you want a commitment in short run and No Commitment in long run?
This is because you want to lead a relaxed life without any responsibility and commitments towards anyone.  You want to run away from your liabilities towards your parents, family, society and country. A country’s true wealth is known by its population’s family bonding and happiness ratio. So, here I am you guys believe in posting national flags, videos on Republic Day and Independence day to boost off your “Love for Nation” to your facebook friends and followers. But, in reality, this is not the real “You”.

The Real “You” is a coward, who don’t wants to take any responsibilities and always want to lead a life only for himself/ herself. The real “You” is a selfish person who wants to spend his salary to buy happiness only for himself, not for parents, family spouse or children.

The Bottom Line

In the end, I would like you all to know that we as parents and society are updated with your mindsets. We know how sincere you are towards your Valentine? And we also know how long you will entertain each other as Valentine’s?  So, it’s good that you don’t tie wedlock with your Valentine, because our nation and society cannot set such examples of immediate divorces and broken marriages. Today, when more than 40% of marriages are broken in the first year of marriage, we can understand that you are still not matured enough to bear the responsibilities of family, society and nation.

I just have a small message for you my dear.

Rose Day Hangover

Rose Day fever is over now! Yesterday there was a record sale of roses all over the country. Red roses, pink roses were at their boon yesterday. Though this full week will be a boon period for roses, but, still yesterday was a day especially for rose-sellers. If you take it as a business point of view, you will find that these additional days before Valentine’s Day are added purely by marketers. These days are celebrated mostly in Asian countries, Asia being a big population area and the best marketing target.

So, now as I have crossed that teenage of craziness, I feel that these Rose-Day, Propose-Day, Hug-Day, Teddy-Day, etc are the business target keywords all over the world. Today, when the Rose-day is over, you will roses all over the streets and dustbins. This is really very sad to see these beautiful roses smashing under the cars on roads and in dustbins.

Rose-Day After-Party

I always felt that it’s good to celebrate these days, so that these poor florists roaming on the roads to sell flowers should get good earnings and due importance. But, what I feel today after going through the price hike on Rose-Day, is that even these hawkers and children selling roses on roads are getting smarter. They utilize the time-value of “The Rose Day” and earn good bread with topping during the whole Valentine’s week.

The Ebbing Down Of Rose-Day Fever

So, now all the kids are home and will join their schools, colleges and offices tomorrow as the Rose-Day tide is ebbing down today, till further notice. By “till further notice” I mean to say that Hug-Day, Teddy-Day, Valentine’s Day etc are on the way. You never know what fever picks up your child on Teddy-Day or Chocolate Day? So now all mother’s keep your fingers crossed till 15th February. Keep a close eye on your kids behavior patterns and try to save him from fake friends and misleading gifts from strangers.

All Time Favorite Teddy Bears

Since the beginning of 19th century, I could see the most trending stuff toy as “Teddy Bear”. It was previously treated as a luxury toy limited to celebrities and rich class. They could afford these stuffed cute teddy bears. But, now these cute little teddies are no more an expensive or glamour toys. They are easily available everywhere. They are available in all price range from small teddies in Rs. 100/- to big ones above Rs. 2000/-.

No more Teddies in Showcase

I still remember those days in 80’s, when owing a teddy bear was a big thing. People kept them in showcases to show off that they possess teddy bears. But, now the scene is changed teddy bears have overtaken the beds, sofas, cushions and today small children use them to cuddle up and sleep with. Now the traditional brown color has been replaced by the most beautiful and bright colors like, yellow, pink, red, white and so on.

Teddies have adopted colors

Today, teddies are sold in all colors. Every day I can find a teddy dressed in a new color in malls and streets. As the Valentine Day is approaching, you can see “Red Teddies” in markets, streets and malls. Similarly, teddies are sold as per the trending colors and events.

My Grandmother’s Favorite Teddy bear

I still remember my grandmother used to love my teddy equally. She used to take care of my teddy when I was in school. In those days, teddies were stuffed with cotton, so they couldn’t be washed at home like nowadays. My grandmother used to keep in cover whenever she would see it lying on my bed or table.

Miss You Teddy

Today, when I am myself a mother and I see that my kids are playing with other latest trending soft toys like Mickey Mouse, Donald duck, cute monkey and so on. But, still our teddy bear holds a special place in toy rack.

A Rose For You My Friend

A Rose Day is celebrated as the first day of Valentine week. People all over the world start celebrating valentine week from this day onwards. The celebration starts with this Rose Day and continues till 14 day February, The Valentine Day.

Why Only On Rose-Day?

I always wondered why these days like Rose-Day, Propose-Day, Valentine-Day, etc are celebrated. Why not we can love and respect relations every day. Why people around the world live happily with each other “always and forever.” Why crime rates are so high in my city? Why these emotions of jealousy and hatred could not be suppressed by these Valentine Days, Rose days and other Days.

People all over the country are crazy after celebrating Rose-Day. A rose which is normally sold at Rs.14/- on roads and corners is sold at Rs.150/- per flower on this day. What hurts me the most is that even after so much love and care in our hearts for our Valentine’s, we are still facing the problems of broken marriages and divorces.

Children are lonely and sad; because both the parents are working and only maid servants are handling them. Neither mothers nor fathers have time for their love-children. But, as soon as the Valentine Day arrives, these couples pop up like lovey-dovey crazy lovers. They post their happy photographs on face-book and twitter to earn maximum likes and comments. What happens to this “love” on the remaining 364 days?

The Bottom Line

I would suggest today’s youth to love and respect relations throughout the year. If they really love each other and want the whole world to appreciate them, they should appreciate their children and parents. They should post their family photos on face-book and twitter rather than those “scripted surprise valentine gift photos.”
