A Woman: Saraswati, Durga Or MahaLaxmi

Today, everyone is worshiping Goddess Durga, Saraswati and Durga for their powers. All the Devi temples are over-crowded and people are standing in queues to serve their deity. They are ready to pay high donations to the pundits and temple caretakers just for a glance of the Goddess statue.

But, what is this? The real goddess at home is deprived of even basic necessities? She is not allowed to play with her brother or even to go to school. These real little angels are suffering from severe ignorance and hence they are forced to accept things the way their mentors want. But, these mentors are not their well-wishers; they only want to dominate them.

Is it justified? No! I don’t think so! If the Goddess sitting in temples deserves all due respect, then why these live goddesses are facing hunger and negligence. Some are even deprived to breathe and are killed even before they are born. Female feticide is still prevalent in the rural areas and girl child is killed even before her first breathe.

The Irony

Why this irony? The goddess of stone is worshiped and respected all over, but, the real humans are even deprived of basic amenities and rights. So, here we need to take action on? Just promises and proposals won’t work? We need to take some strong actions against these serious issues like—female feticide, girl child education, honor killing and eve teasing etc.

The Conclusion

In rural areas, girls not allowed to go to school. Later our government took necessary measures to educate girl child. Several “aanganwadis” are opened in colonies and bastis to make it convenient for the poor people to educate their children and government is aiding these to arrange for “mid-day meal” of these students. Today, our government understands the values of this 50% population of our country and their contribution in the development and growth of our country.
