WWW: Where Are We Today?

Today on 30th anniversary of World Wide Web (www) I realize what our lives would have been without this invention. World Wide Web was invented by English scientist Tim Berners-Lee in 1989. He wrote his first web browser in 1990 while employed in CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. It was released to general public in August 1991. This was the beginning of “A New revolution”.

This is commonly known as ‘web”, basically a space to store the documents and data. These are accessible via internet connection and the data is used to operate this web. These are used by applications called “Web Browsers”, like Internet explorer, Mozilla and Chrome.  These web browsers are identified by Uniform Resource Locators; these are accessible via internet connections. These web browsers stored the web sites which could be opened on request. These websites contained the necessary data, images and documents. These websites have unique domain name which were used to open them on the web browsers.

By 1988, the first direct IP connection between Europe and North America came into being and in 1989; Tim Berners Lee issued a proposal for the possibility of a web-like system called “MESH

Just imagine what our lives would have been without this invention. No Wattsapp ! No Face book! No Emails ! No No No ! What a peace of mind!  I still imagine those days when children used to play outdoor games, read novels and books, and above all when people used to chitchat with their friends in the evening in gardens and balconies. Our mothers and grandmothers used to spend time in making sweaters, doing embroideries etc because they were not busy on mobiles andlaptops.

I still remember as a child when I used to play games like Gulli-Danda, Dibba-down, express, badminton, Galli-cricket, cycling etc. There was only one cycle in the family of four children and we used to take rounds in shifts. Today, after visualizing all these small and young children suffering from mobile-addiction and laptop-addiction, I feel that those old days should come back and the whole world should be blessed with happiness again.

Online Shopping: A Blessing

Nowadays, it’s very common to see parcel delivery men running on the roads and delivering parcels from all over the world. Today we have accepted this change and have started relying on the different online shopping portals. This trust is a result of the efforts by the different marketers who have served well.  Even our mothers and grandmothers are easy on mobile and are keen to learn more and more about online shopping.  Children of small age are surfing and ordering online quite comfortably.

Easy Mobile Apps

Now when every day a new technology is coming and more than 70% of the population is working and spent more than 9 hours in offices. People hardly get any time to visit markets and buy their necessities. Online shopping had reduced the pain of going to market after office. Now we can order everything online and thus reach home without any stress.  From small value stuffs like vegetables etc to precious jewelries  are now ordered online. Easy mobile apps are available for online shopping, followed with timely deliveries. Whereas, in traditional shopping one has to visit the store or stores to find their choice and compare prices.

Cost Factor

There are several benefits of online marketing. It not only saves time but also saves money. The middle man commissions are removed thus reducing the cost of the product.  It includes lots of expenses when a product reaches the store. Transportation, labor and taxes etc are added to the cost of the product. But in online marketing the product is delivered to the customers directly from the manufacturer. This reduces the additional cost.
